Quiara Alegria Hudes

QUIARA ALEGRÍA HUDES wrote the book for the new off-Broadway musical In the Heights. Last season her play Elliot, A Soldier’s Fugue was premiered by Page 73 Productions at New York’s Culture Project and went onto a regional premiere at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. Her work has been produced at Signature Theater, Portland Stage Company, People’s Light and Theatre, Steppenwolf Garage, New Theatre, and many others. She has been commissioned by South Coast Repertory, Signature Theatre, and People’s Light and Theatre, and is the recipient of the Clauder Prize and Paula Vogel Award in Playwriting for her play Yemaya’s Belly. Hudes received an MFA from Brown and a BA from Yale. She was born and raised in West Philadelphia.
