Fellowships WITH BENNINGTON COLLEGE

Established in 2018, the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation Fellowships in Theatre is an annual program, offering exceptional Bennington College drama students the opportunity to work in paid internships at Off-Broadway non-profit theatre companies during the College’s winter Field Work Term. Students work alongside playwrights, actors, designers, engineers, production staffs (artistic, managerial, marketing, development), and producers to gain a 360-degree view of the Off-Broadway theatre community, as well as an understanding of what it takes for these companies to thrive. Students also receive mentorship and experience live theatre, immersing themselves in New York City theatre to cultivate a deeper, more practical understanding of the theatre world.

Each fellowship provides support for a scholarship to underwrite work at a range of nonprofit Off-Broadway theatres funded by the Foundation, inclusive of expenses related to housing, food, and transportation.

Our 2020 Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation Fellows will be working at: The Flea Theater, Harlem Stage, La MaMa, MCC Theater, Mint Theater Company, New Georges, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Soho Rep, Spanish Theatre Repertory/Repertorio Español, Theatre for a New Audience, Vineyard Theatre, and WP Theatre.
